Although pencil has always
been a natural medium for me,
I studied drawing in 1989
with Paul Jay at the Center
for Visual Arts, an annex of
the Community College of
Allegheny County. Paul helped
sharpen my perception and
control which was the boost
I needed.

Tulipus Hybridus

This is the "Igreja Sao Francisco de Assisi" in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais.
This amazing structure features the carvings of Aleijadinho who was
also the architect. Completed in 1794, its Baroque style was already
outdated in Europe, but still flourished in Latin America.
This is a work in progress. I will post each stage as I complete it.

"Teatro Santa Isabel"

I was inspired by the restoration
of this colonial theater. I stood in
front of it for a very long time,
sensing its history. From a
rough sketch and a photograph
I drew my tribute to the historic
cultural stage.

These drawings are of models and were made using a continuous line
technique. Once I touched the paper with the pencil tip I never
removed it and let the pencil trace out the contours of the model
without stopping. If you look closely you can see that the line never ends.
Later, I went back and added the shading.

I hope you have enjoyed my work.
